Split a double-layer Blu-ray into two parts for burning

How to split a double-layer Blu-ray into two parts for burning into two blank Blu-rays? This article will tell you how. Just follow it.

When I have a 45gig movie in a double-layer Blu-ray (Like Gone With The Wind), I would like to break it in half and burn on two BD-R's. Any suggestions on software or process. Have rippers, but they don't seem to go from Bluray to Bluray.

As far as I know, one tool for splitting blu ray movies is tsMuxeR, but how to use tsmuxer to get the exact time is the issue I'm concerned. I have used the split function but it only lets you use minutes, seconds, or milliseconds, not both for instance 45m 8s, I would have to use 2708 seconds to get it exactly right.

And here is an effective way for you: Split a large Blu-ray movie to several single video files in small sizes at first, and then burn them into single-layer Blu-Ray (BD25).

Part I: How to split a double-layer Blu-ray?

Here Pavtube BDMagic provide you a easy way to split Blu-ray when you do the video conversion. No matter whether you need to edit or re-encode the video file, you can do split video easily during formats conversion process. Read the step by step guide below to learn how to split video.

Step 1: Free download Pavtube BDMagic, install and run the program.

Step 2: Load Blu-ray.

You can click "Load file(s)" to input your inserted Blu-ray from your BD drive.

Step 3: Split Blu-ray into clips.

Click "Split selected task" to do split video settings.

When the Video Split window pops up, tick off Enable > Split file size (MB), and either enter the desired maximum size of each file chunk or choose an appropriate size from the available drop down option. 25 GB is equal to 25,600 MB, so in my case I entered 25,600 MB for each chunk of file.

Step 5: Convert and split Blu-ray.

Once you have finished these settings, you can click "OK" and back to the main interface to click Convert. Pavtube BDMagic will convert the source file to your desired format and split it into several files with desired file size.

Tip:

Besides splitting by file size, you can also split the selected video file by specifying the clip quantity and duration time for each chunk.

Part II: Burn converted video into single-layer Blu-Ray

As far as I know, ImgBurn is the best free DVD burning software. Actually, it also can create ISO image file from DVD or DVD folders, but it's true that ImgBurn is also a free Blu-ray Disc burner (compatible with BD R/RE). To burn a Blu-ray Disc with free Blu-ray burner ImgBurn, see the detailed steps.

Easy steps to burn Blu-ray Disc with ImgBurn

Note: To play the Blu-ray folders on PC, you could use the free Blu-ray player to play the movies on hard drive.

1. Load ImgBurn!

2. Click the 'Write files/folders to disc' button.

Note: This is basically the same as switching the 'Mode' to 'Build' and setting 'Output' to 'Device'.

3. Insert a blank (or erasable) Blu-ray disc in your burner.

Note: The message in the status bar should now say something along the lines of 'Ready'.

4. Add the files/folders you want to burn to the 'Source' box.

For a Blu-ray video disc that'll be the BDAV / BDMV folder and the CERTIFICATE folder.

To add those folders you can:

A. Type their names in manually (one at a time!) and click the '+' button.
